As Balter Head Brewer, Scott Hargrave says, “Pilsners are technically challenging. It comes down to great ingredients and process, because every part of making a Pilsner has to be as good as you can do it. You can’t hide behind massive hop flavour or malt structure in a beer like this.   • Hoppy Sunday Crafternoons​!!! #cheapthrills #5dollars --- MEET THE BREWER:You probably know them for taking the #10 spot in GABS Festival Awards 2017, with their oh-so fresh'n'juicy Kaiju Krush, as well as for producing incredibly hop-forward brews, including Aftermath, Metamorphasis & Robohop! @kaijubeer​ Co-Owners, Nat Reeves, his brother Callum, & wife Clara (pictured), started this unique brand under the original name, 'Monster Mash', operating out of Cavalier Brewing​. But, it wasn't long before some energy drink company (suppose they're somewhat well known...) came calling, & 'Monster Mash' was forced (they're now graeful for this) to become 'Kaiju', meaning 'strange creature' in japanese. By 2015, Kaiju had gained quite the following & they were able to establish their own brewing premisis in Dandenong South, where they continue to brew all their delicious, hoppy brews by hand. Of course, it also must said, as amazing as their beers are, you must have noticed their equally amazing packaging... yes? These impressive pieces of art, inspired by team Kaiju's love of Japanese films & comics, are the work of New York based artist, Mikey Burton. According to Clara he's the only choice to bring Kaiju concepts to life, as she's always wanted to work with him from her days working as a games developer (awesome resume, we know). So if you haven't given Kaiju a go, do yourself a favour & get onto it! Available for limited time at the Woolly Mammoth​ Craft Bar 😋

Perth band Gyroscope are pleased to announce the release of their double A-side single, ‘Crooked Thought’ / ‘DABS’ (their 1st studio recordings since their 4th album ‘Cohesion’, which debuted at #3 on the ARIA charts, the follow up to their #1 album ‘Breed Obsession’), accompanied by the news of a national headline tour to celebrate it!

“Recorded in 2017 during a couple of rainy days in Perth with the infamous (meaning more than famous) Dave ‘Parko’ Parkin on board, we made a combined conscious effort to not fuck with a bunch of different guitar amps and try loads of weird sounds with these two songs. We didn’t go and try this and that in regard to overdubbing layers. We took a very live approach to it all from the get-go really. Necked some beers, plugged in and turned up… then turned up some more… then Parko would tell us to turn down… but we never did. You know?”

Gyroscope are Daniel Sanders (lead vocals/guitar), Zoran Trivic (guitar/backing vocals), Brad Campbell (bass/backing vocals) and Rob Nassif (drums), and will tour Nationally in January next year. Joining Gyroscope on ‘The Tour of Crooked Thoughts’ will be main support Adelaide’s Horror My Friend for all shows with local act Crum in Brisbane
